The recent re-infection of scrutonium into the body politic has been a harrowing turn of fortune for Axlerod and his scientific team. In November 2008, they had declared scrutonium "all but extinct," although they kept small amounts of the strain for use in laboratory experiments with Republican tax returns. It was thought to be in containment as recently as five weeks ago, with scientists citing poll results showing resistance to doses of unemployment previously considered fatal.
All that changed on September 12 after an unexpected outbreak in Benghazi, Libya. Although it caught Axlerod and his team by surprise, they were temporarily able to keep it under control with a regimen of YouTube blame therapy and gaffe-meme injections. But the new Benghazi strain proved stubbornly resistant, and has continued to slowly spread.

Ethan Yellowbird was struck in the head by a stray bullet on July 11, 2011, as he slept inside his Samson Cree Nation home, about 90 km south of Edmonton, and police say he was a victim of a botched drive-by shooting.
The three teens, who police say were 13, 16 and 17 at the time of the death and cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, entered the guilty pleas on what was slated to be the first day of a two-week trial.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the Sept. 6, 2011, shooting death of Ethan’s aunt — 23-year-old Chelsea Yellowbird — who was fatally shot in the backyard of a home next door to where the young boy was shot.

Lilley describes how the CBC, in the name of “freedom of expression” and “public interest,” destroyed the reputation and living of a respected cardiologist and researcher, Dr. Frans Leenen, by (as Lilley says) “making the interviews fit the story they had decided on before the project even began.”Kill this boondoggle, or at the very least, make it pay for itself.
The accusations against Dr Leenen aren’t the point — they occurred prior to 2000. Suffice to note that in court, Justice Cunningham said the CBC program characterized him “dishonestly and misrepresented his views” ... portrayed him as “a devious, dishonest, bumbling fool” when all the time they knew he was “a person of high integrity and reputation.”
Even when the court found in favour of Dr. Leenen and awarded him $950,000, the CBC appealed (incurring more legal costs that the public paid), and even then refused to apologize or admit error.
Lilly quotes Guy Fournier, former chairman of the CBC’s board of directors: “The CBC never excuses itself and never apologizes.”

LOST AND FOUND... yet another tale of the incivil service...
I'm a fan of your blog, and I've contacted you once or twice before. I wanted to share my gun registry story with you, as I spent about an hour on the phone with them yesterday.Has anybody out there tested this whole "amnesty" thing? Do the local police departments know about this?
My license expired on August 1st. Six weeks before that I dutifully filled out the paperwork to renew it, got a passport-style photo, etc and mailed it off. Everything was done correctly. I don't have anything fancy either --no prohibited weapons. Just a bunch of hunting rifles and mil-surp .303s picked up after the war and passed down.
And I'm no criminal: at worst I have three speeding tickets over the last twenty years. I passed a CSIS background check to join the military twelve years ago. I've had multiple criminal records checks in the past twenty years because I've worked with children. I'm a good guy.
So throughout September I began to get to get worried that my license hadn't shown up. I finally contacted them yesterday. The surly bitch I dealt with told me my license was approved on the 16th of October. That is, four months after I sent my paperwork in. It should be in the mail sometime this week, she said.
I asked her what the legality of my not having a license was in the intervening months. She told me an amnesty was granted, and even though I didn't have an up to date card, I was okay.
So, what's the point in having a license at all? If I'd gone to Canadian Tire to pick up a box of 22-250, and the clerk had noticed my license was expired, could I have just explained there was an amnesty? Could I do the same thing if a cop pulled me over the way to the range? If I could, what's the point?
Anyway, keep fighting the good fight.

...when I see San Romanoway in the news... I lived in one of the buildings for a year back in the 80's...
Toronto Police were called just after midnight to 25 San Romanoway, an apartment building at Jane St. and Finch Ave. W., and found the man suffering from a fatal gunshot wound in an 11th-floor apartment.Maybe Dalton's 20 million dollar post-Danzig spending spree isn't gonna solve the problem after all.
It’s believed he was shot in the back.
The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene becoming the city’s 41st murder victim of the year.

And seriously... "rampant prosecution?" I think I've heard of two or three cases... countrywide... over the last thirty years. Is that "rampant?"
Let's break that down. The dictionary definition of "rampant" is...
1. Extending unchecked; unrestrained....which, by the way, seems more prescriptive of the anonymous, indiscriminate, often drug-fuelled public sex that is this infections primary transmission vector.
2. Occurring without restraint and frequently, widely, or menacingly; rife.

Unlike the CBC, I'm simply not willing to blame this on Stephen Harper. This one is squarely on the unfortunately named Mr. Roach... who immigrated to this country over five decades ago and despite his alleged "dream" resolutely managed to avoid becoming a citizen.

Back then, the city’s Community Safety Plan had a mere 10 staff and less than $600,000 in operating funds attached to it to deal with seven priority neighbourhoods
Nevertheless, it took no time to ascertain that with the Millerites running the show, their plan would be short on tough love and long on feel-good programs.
That quickly became obvious when one of the first public acts of the Community Safety Secretariat was to hold a community safety conference featuring an Australian faith healer chanting a song to remove “barriers” — while drumming loudly to accompany herself.
