Never a Community Organiser around...

...when you really, really need one...

The federal jury found that the former governor brazenly abused the powers of his office in a series of attempted shakedowns captured on undercover government recordings.

Blagojevich, the fourth former governor convicted of felonies since 1973, likely faces a significant prison sentence.

In the end, jurors agreed with prosecutors that Blagojevich had tried to sell the Senate seat in a variety of ways, including an attempt to steer it to U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. in exchange for $1.5 million in campaign cash promised by Jackson supporters.
In the last 38 years, half of the elected Illinois governors have ended up behind bars.

The Chicago Machine... the most corrupt political organisation in North America.

The corruption of the Chicago machine, is, in my opinion, all you really need to know about Obama's ascendancy to power.

But I could be wrong.

I kind of appreciate the honesty of buying a political office,at least the purchaser pays for it with his own money instead of ours. Although soon,I suppose, he'd be at the trough stealing as much of ours as possible to make up for the purchase price.

I'd like to see an ad posted in Canadian Newspapers: "For sale, one Senate seat. Winning bidder must buy a home in the riding he'll represent.Qualifications: ability to look at issues with sober second thought. Must be fluent in Punjabi or Cantonese if representing British Columbia".

Now,Blagojevich is going to have to pull in all the favors he's owed to keep that jail sentence down to house arrest. Good luck to the crooked S.O.B.

or we could just fire them all, abolish the senate... and save countless millions of dollars, while simultaneously cleaning up the political process.

That's a great stat.

Unfortunately, that's just never going to happen. The conservatives hold out this promise that somehow they are so much better and respect taxpayers, but their track record thus far clearly shows, they're all about the patronage and entitlements just as the liberals were.

No different.
